Rewards and benefits: professional and social
We prioritize the well-being of our employees and seek to acquire and develop the best talent in the sector by offering competitive compensation and benefits packages, including retirement, health and wellness benefits. We believe in aligning colleague incentives with the interests of our business and stakeholders. Our performance-based compensation aligns with our goals, promoting long-term stockholder value.
Benefits at United
We know our airline is only as good as the team behind it. We offer a competitive benefits package to our colleagues to ensure they have opportunities to learn, prioritize their health and be well traveled.
In 2025, we continued our efforts to improve employee health outcomes and health impacts resulting from social determinants. We broadened our existing employee wellness platforms through improved program awareness, access and offerings — including expanded mental health care options, breast cancer screenings and new maternal health support offerings. Our efforts toward employee health were recognized by the American Cancer Society and the Biden Cancer Moonshot initiative.

Financial
We offer industry-competitive wages, and our 401(k) plan includes a company match to support employees’ efforts to save for their future. We also provide both short-term and long-term incentive opportunities, as well as financial counseling, to help our employees capitalize on these benefits.

Health
United provides a variety of industry-leading health plans and insurance options, including medical, dental, vision, long-term disability and life insurance. We also offer a variety of innovative wellness programs for diabetes, cancer, and musculoskeletal and mental health well-being, among others.

Social
United supports its employees giving back and serving the communities in which they live and work. Employees contribute to charity fundraising efforts, volunteer with local food banks and support community events. We also engage with community partners with career readiness to support employment-seekers by reviewing resumes, preparing for interviews, mentoring and more. Beyond volunteering, we have social, athletic and activity clubs around the world.

Professional
We continuously encourage professional development based on colleagues’ interests and skills. Our employee-led Business Resource Groups (BRGs), which are open to all employees, build communities of belonging. We have nine BRGs, nearly 60 chapters and over 50K memberships. The BRGs operate under four strategic pillars: employee engagement, recruiting, community engagement and supporting key business outcomes. They also create opportunities for mentorship, networking, cross-functional collaboration, leadership development and team culture. The United BRGs contribute to our corporate culture by enhancing the employee and customer experience and fostering company-wide innovation.
We have a long-standing commitment to equal pay for equal work, and once again in 2025, we achieved near-perfect pay equality for employees performing equal work across our U.S. management roles.
